How to Ensure a Hassle-Free SIM Registration Process

Registering your Smart prepaid SIM is generally fast, smooth, and hassle-free–as long as you come prepared. Below is a checklist of everything you would need in order to register your SIM:

Your Internet Device

You can use a phone, tablet, or computer to register your SIM, as long as it is in good working condition, and is able to connect to the internet. 

The good news? Smart subscribers can access Smart’s SIM Registration website using their mobile data without incurring any additional data charges. 

Your Personal Information

You will be required to provide the following personal information:

  1. Mobile Number
  2. OTP (One-Time Password, to be sent to your number by Smart upon registration) 
  3. Full Name
  4. Birth Date
  5. Complete Address
  6. Sex
  7. Nationality

A Valid Government-Issued ID

Be ready with a photo or a scanned copy of your valid government-issued ID. Under the SIM Registration Act, the list of acceptable valid IDs include:

  1. Passport
  2. Philippine Identification
  3. Social Security System ID
  4. Government Service Insurance System E-Card
  5. Driver’s License
  6. National Bureau of Investigation Clearance
  7. Police Clearance
  8. Firearms’ License to Own and Possess ID
  9. Professional Regulation Commission ID
  10. Integrated Bar of the Philippines ID
  11. Overseas Workers Welfare Administration ID
  12. Bureau of Internal Revenue ID
  13. Voter’s ID
  14. Senior Citizen’s Card
  15. Unified Multi-purpose Identification Card
  16. Person with Disabilities Card
  17. Other valid government-issued ID with Photo

A Selfie Photo

The selfie photo you submit must be clear in order to be accepted for scanning. Make sure to use a simple background, and avoid distracting elements in your photo.

For PWDs and Minors: An Authorized Representative/Signatory

Persons with disabilities can have an authorized representative perform the SIM registration process on their behalf. For minors, SIM cards will have to be registered under their parents’ or guardians’ names.

For Foreigners and Business Entities

Foreigners and business entities may be required to provide other documents, such as travel documents, tax documents, and business permits.

How to Register Your Smart SIM

Once you have the necessary requirements, you’re ready to register your Smart SIM. Here’s what you need to do:

Step 1. Visit the portal at http://www.smart.com.ph/simreg.   

Step 2. Enter your mobile number and receiver your OTP.

Step 3. Input your information, upload your valid ID, and upload your selfie.  

Step 4. Wait for an SMS confirmation.

And that’s it—your SIM card has been registered. Important: Please take note of your Control Number in case your details need further verification.
