Alfredo S. Panlilio on Network Restoration and Relief Efforts

In the aftermath of Typhoon Odette, which has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility at noon today, we wish to assure our customers that PLDT is one with every one of you in recovering following the massive damage caused by the super typhoon in parts of Mindanao and the Visayas.

Through our core value of malasakit, we are able to carry on amid the challenges of any calamity or pandemic.

We have already restored our services in Mindanao late last night, starting with voice and SMS early this morning.

For Mindanao, 94% of our wireless sites and 97% of our fixed services are already operational.

We will work round-the-clock for the remaining areas left for restoration: Surigao del Norte, including Siargao and Dinagat islands, and Misamis Oriental.

For the Visayas, 64% of our wireless sites and 98% of our fixed services are up.

Commercial power is still to be restored in Cebu province.

We will push to restore services in hard hit areas in Cebu, Leyte, and Negros Occidental at the soonest possible time.

Our fixed services in Palawan are already at 50% online, with services restored in the Northern part of the province and our team now fixing Puerto Princesa.

Our teams are on the ground and are doing restoration work round the clock to ensure that everyone gets reconnected.

Rest assured that we are on top of the situation, and we empathize with everyone affected by the typhoon.

As with all emergencies that we have faced and were able to overcome, we at PLDT group again turn to our innate strengths and uphold three key elements: protect and support our employees, continue to serve our customers, and work with all levels of the public and private sector in uplifting the welfare of Filipinos.

For the latter, PLDT and Smart have engaged local government units and local suppliers for the distribution of relief packs.

Efforts to provide immediate response through network resilience, continuous availability of communication services, and relief assistance to communities are part of PLDT and Smart’s #SafeandSmart Philippines program.

If we remain committed, we are confident that the country will pull through this typhoon – like we always have.
