In February, Samsung launched its new Galaxy S22 Series, featuring the Galaxy S22, S22+, and the S22 Ultra.
This new Galaxy S lineup promised to give users a true flagship experience in photography and performance.
Upon its release, the Galaxy S22 Series was praised for its premium design and cameras while having great performance for productivity apps and the latest mobile games.
Of course, these reviews were based on a couple of weeks with the phones.
Now that it’s been a few months since their launch, does the Galaxy S22 Series still deliver on its promise?
Find out here in this long-term review of the latest Samsung Galaxy S lineup.
The Galaxy S22 and S22+ share mostly similar internals, including the same camera setup, with their key differences being display and battery size.
For their displays, the Galaxy S22 features a 6.1-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display screen, while the S22+ has a larger 6.6-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display. Both screens have a 120Hz refresh rate and 1080p resolution.
First impressions of the Galaxy S22 and S22+ displays are excellent, and after a few months of use, their screens still did not disappoint.
The Full HD+ resolution and Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display technology mean the Galaxy S22 and S22+ have sharp and detailed output with vibrant colors, making them excellent for watching movies and videos, especially on Netflix.
If you love watching Netflix wherever you go, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ are great devices.
A concern with the Dynamic AMOLED screen is burn-in, where a Dynamic AMOLED display shows uneven brightness or colors.
After a few months of use, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ showed no signs of burn-in.
The screens aren’t the only feature that held up well on both devices, as the two Galaxy S devices continued to have great performance.
Both phones are powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, allowing them to run today’s popular games easily. They even have enough power to run some of the most demanding games, such as Genshin Impact.
After months of use, the phones did not slow down as their gaming performance was still excellent.
Everyday use wasn’t an issue as both the Galaxy S22 and S22+ did not get slow or unresponsive while scrolling through menus and switching between apps.
The mobile data connectivity of the two phones also didn’t slow down. The Galaxy S22 and S22+ are 5G phones, meaning they can take full advantage of fast 5G networks.
When tested using a Smart 5G SIM, both phones delivered fast mobile data speeds, all while having reliable signal strength for calls and messages.
As for their cameras, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ pack a triple camera setup with a 50MP Wide, 12MP Ultra-Wide, and 10MP Telephoto shooter.
At the front is a 10MP selfie shooter. Much like the display and performance, the camera setup on both Galaxy S22 and S22+ did not see a dip in quality even after a couple of months of use.
So, even if you take snapshots and videos nearly every day, you won’t have to worry about the cameras degrading in quality.
Finally, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ continued to have long battery life. In initial tests, both phones could last for over a day on a single charge.
After a couple of months, the battery on the two devices did not suffer from any issues, meaning they could still power the Galaxy S22 and S22+ even for a day of heavy use.
This is great news, given that some phones suffer from battery issues even after a few months of use.
Given these results, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ proved reliable phones with many strengths and no glaring weaknesses, even after long-term use. This makes them excellent all-around flagships.
While the Galaxy S22 and S22+ share a similar design, with the only key difference being size, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is a big departure.
The Ultra model is the successor to the Galaxy Note lineup as it features squared-off edges and a built-in S Pen.
Front and center, the Galaxy S22 Ultra packs a large 6.8-inch 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display with a high resolution.
The large display and a built-in stylus make the Galaxy S22 Ultra one of the best smartphones you can get for productivity.
Whether you need a device for taking notes during a meeting or working on creative projects while on the go, the Galaxy S22 Ultra delivers.
Even after a couple of months of use, the display and the S Pen remain responsive, with no slowdown.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra is powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip as the other Galaxy S22 Series phones.
In terms of performance, the processor had no problems running apps and games on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, even with its larger screen with a high resolution.
Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra did not suffer from any battery degradation issues after long-term use, meaning it can last for a day or even more on a single charge.
Similar to the Galaxy S22 and S22+, the Galaxy S22 Ultra did not disappoint when it comes to mobile connectivity.
For instance, when using a Smart 5G SIM, the Galaxy S22 Ultra can get fast mobile internet speeds that are almost like a home internet connection when it comes to speed and signal quality.
Aside from 5G connectivity, the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip also proved reliable for calls and texts, with high signal strength indoors or outdoors.
Its cameras also proved to be impressive and flexible. Thanks to the 108MP Wide camera, you can get remarkable photos and videos, whether you take them in daylight or at night.
The two 10MP Telephoto shooters and the 12MP Ultra-Wide camera also help make the Galaxy S22 Ultra one of the most versatile phones for photography and videography.
Whatever Galaxy S22 device you choose, you’ll be guaranteed an excellent smartphone for productivity, entertainment, and photography.
Best of all, you won’t have to worry about longevity as the Galaxy S22 Series continues to impress even after long-term use.
If you want to upgrade your phone to a Galaxy S22, you can get one through Smart Signature plans.
As all three Galaxy S22 devices support 5G connectivity, you’ll get a true flagship smartphone experience and enjoy fast and reliable connectivity through the country’s fastest 5G mobile network*.
